How Does Invisalign Work?

What Is Invisalign

Invisalign is a teeth-straightening procedure that uses a set of transparent, plastic aligners to gradually move the teeth into position. These are nearly invisible and fit snugly over your teeth. You can pull them out to brush your teeth, eat, and even for special occasions like a job interview or a wedding because they are removable. For those who want a straighter smile but don’t want to wear metal braces, Invisalign Ellenbrook is a perfect alternative. People who want to straighten their teeth when going about their daily lives without feeling self-conscious should consider Invisalign.

How Does It Work?

You must wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day for Invisalign treatment to be effective. During this time, the custom aligners would apply pressure to the problem area and gradually shift the teeth into position. You’ll switch out aligners every 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the schedule you discuss with your dentist, to keep the teeth straightening progressing. Although Invisalign is not painful, you can feel some pressure when the new aligners begin to shift your teeth.

Is Invisalign Effective for Gaps?

The good news is that Invisalign will close gaps. The long and short of it is that it might be a little more difficult.

Although gaps can be closed with Invisalign, the severity of the gap must be considered.

Smaller gaps can close in a matter of months. It would take longer to close gaps that are considerably wider and cause more issues.

On a case-by-case basis, each treatment can differ. Other procedures, such as veneers or bonding, can be used in conjunction with Invisalign to close larger gaps. Your dentist will determine which option is best for you.

What Happens When Invisalign Is Removed?

What happens when the Invisalign therapy is finished and the holes have closed? Your dentist will examine your teeth and make sure that your care is progressing as planned. This does not, however, imply that your care is complete.

You’ll almost certainly need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth in place and close the gaps. This retainer prevents the teeth from reverting to their original position. Depending on the situation, you might need to wear the retainer for a longer period of time.

To avoid undoing any of the work, make sure you wear the retainer exactly as the orthodontist instructed.

Invisalign can help with a variety of orthodontic issues.

Invisalign can help with a variety of orthodontic issues. Crooked teeth, overbites (where the upper teeth protrude in front of the bottom teeth), and underbites are among the most common (where the bottom teeth jut out in front of the upper teeth). Invisalign will also close holes in your teeth and straighten crowded, overlapping, and twisting teeth. It may also correct a crossbite, which occurs when certain upper teeth lie inside rather than outside the lower teeth when the mouth is closed, and an open bite, which occurs when the upper and lower teeth do not touch.

What Orthodontic Issues Does Invisalign Not Address?

Although Invisalign can help with several problems, it can’t help with others. For example, if a crooked tooth requires a lot of rotation to straighten, Invisalign may not be able to help. Similarly, Invisalign is good for small gaps between teeth, but if there are wide gaps, Invisalign may not be up to the task. Invisalign is therefore unable to correct a midline gap of more than 2mm or raise or lower the location of the tooth in the jawline.
